Dr. Amos began her educational career in 1989, working in the criminal justice program at Colorado Northwestern Community college, where she graduated with an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice. In 2014, she returned to school, earning her Doctorate in Forensic Psychology at Walden University. Dr. Amos has also obtained her Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) to work with substance abuse clients in Colorado. Dr. Amos began her career in 2008, working with the criminally involved clients at Community Correction as an officer while attending school. She worked on the treatment floor, where the inmates did inpatient substance abuse treatment. Once she graduated from Adams State in 2012, Dr. Amos opened her private practice and began working with substance abuse clients in an individual and group setting. The client base was probation, parole, and private citizens in the community. In 2014 Dr. Amos began working at the Mesa County Detention facility in the capacity of a Mental Health supervisor where she worked one on one with the inmates. Dr. Amos continued to work in her private practice working with clients who presented with substance abuse, mental health, or co-occurring issues. Dr. Amos has a passion for helping the underserved and people who struggle with mental health or substance abuse issues. She continues to grow the Amos Counseling center to provide needed treatment to the community.
